In his famous essay on Civil Disobedience , Henry David Thoreau wrote, “Let your life be a counter friction to stop the machine.” May our quiet and peaceful gathering be such a counter friction to thoughtless machines of hate, indifference, shame, and complicity.

On this Juneteenth, does “ He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives” sound familiar? So let us proclaim.
SH + MS students- please join me, Kelsey & Marcus, Ingrid, Scott, and other leaders for this special & necessary gathering, early this Sunday morning: June 21, 8-9 a.m.

We’ll gather for silent prayer, 8:46 of remembrance, and share signs of lament and hope. Also bring a small bouquet of natural beauty with whatever is close at hand: flowers, boughs, or simple grasses which will be left on the front steps of Nassau.

Seniors, Congratulations! We Love You!

Hopefully we can have Senior Send-Off in-person? Perhaps we’ll be playing “Guess The Masked Senior”? Maybe it will be in somebody’s back yard? Put it on your calendar. We’ve got the greatest seniors we’ve ever had this year. They deserve something non-virtual.

Save the Date: Wednesday, August 5, 2020 - 6-8pm, location TBD

Parents, whether your child is entering the work force or heading off to college, the military, or a gap year, this community wants to celebrate their graduation and time here at Nassau Presbyterian Church.

One of our traditions is the annual slide show. Help us continue this tradition by sending in 10-15 photos, of your child (birth to graduation) . Please send these in by Monday, June 15 :

Summer Intern
Welcome (back) Emily Rounds!
No stranger to Nassau, Emily Rounds is back for a summer of (not quite what we had planned) youth ministry with Nassau. She’ll be helping out with VVBS, Sunday events, and (of course!) leading some Zoom calls. Welcome back Emily. It is great to have you.

A rising senior at Davidson College, Emily grew up at Nassau and is trying to figure out why ministry is so addictive. And special thanks to Steve and Dayle Rounds for housing our intern for the summer.
Music Notes
Dear Cantorei and Chorale,

You made it, congratulations! The end of your school year has arrived. Time to schedule some "me" time and consider how you want to spend your summer days. I have a suggestion actually...

CHANCEL DRAMA week will take place virtually this August 10 - 14, 2020!

Timing for each segment is being determined, but if you have WiFi you can sign in and participate from ANYWHERE. We'll meet via ZOOM, likely 2 hours per day, and will include:

A Cast of Characters (no memorization required)
Bible Study
Singing and/or speaking, recorded either via zoom or individual segments
Opportunities to support Mission work

We will share our Chancel Drama via video in Worship, August 16!

Chancel Drama Title and registration information coming soon.
Rising Grades 3 - 12. It will be fun and memorable :)

Also, please join me in thanking our fabulous CHOIR PARENTS for their dedication and support, all year:

CHORALE - Alex Bates
CANTOREI - Kristina Hill and Caroline Hoedemaker

See you on the church steps Sunday morning, 8 a.m. With love and gratitude.
Peace,

Ingrid
