1996 Olympic Champion Ashley Whitney will be joining us at the U.S. National Alumni Social at Men's NCAA Championships later this month.
Ashley's swimming roots run deep.
Swimming for the who's who of iconic coaches and teams, her talent developed at the famous Nashville Aquatic Club in Tennessee. She then went on to train under Gregg Troy during his tenure at The Bolles School. Ashley attended the University of Georgia, swimming for Jack Bauerle in 1999, the first year they won NCAA Championships. After her Georgia stint, she transferred to the University of California at Berkeley where she completed her college career with Teri McKeever. With all of that experience, it's no wonder Ashley is now coaching. She's back at her hometown team, the Nashville Aquatic Club, sharing her own swimming wisdom with triathletes and masters swimmers.
Ashley won Olympic gold as a part of the 4x200 freestyle relay at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. She is happily married to a scientist, and that's how she describes her spouse, "Yes, he's a scientist." Ashley and the scientist have two lovely daughters who swim for Nashville Aquatic club.
