STUDENTS OF THE WEEK
Congratulations to the Natick High School Mock Trial Team for their 2-1 record in the preliminary round of the Massachusetts Bar Association Mock Trial Competition. The students took both the plaintiff and defense sides in a civil law case about a student suspension, free speech and due process. Week 1 Natick lost by three points to St. John's. Week 2 Natick beat Westborough High School. Week 3 Natick defeated Hopkinton High School. These competitions require learning not just content of the events, but also applicable law and the rules and regulations of a trial. All of the trials took place at the Westborough District Court. Many of our members are seniors who have been with us for all four years of high school and they all will be greatly missed.

MESSAGE FROM THE HEALTH CLINIC
A healthy reminder from the NHS Clinic:

The  flu  season is peaking at the moment and this is the optimal time for a reminder to keep your child(ren) at home when they are sick. The parameters to follow are:

  • Stay home with fever >99.6

  • Return to school only after 24 hours fever free without the use of fever reducing medication such as acetaminophen or Ibuprofen

  • Reinforce proper hand washing and cough hygiene

Together, with your help, we can prevent the spread of flu as we look forward to spring.

Be well,
The High School Nurses

Online course selection for grades 9-11
Students will be able to enter their course selections using iStudent between January 31st - February 23rd. Course Scheduling at Natick High is not a 'first come, first served' process. Rather, it is about having accurate data entered into iStudent/ iPass . All students are asked to consider their extracurricular/enrichment activities and responsibilities, in order to review their commitments, holistically for the coming year, and select a balanced program of study. Refer to the Time Management Activity Worksheet .

Guidance Counselors will meet with all students starting in mid-February through the beginning of March to resolve any outstanding questions. Finally, the Course Request Verification (CRV), will be published in iParent on March 25th. Details are posted on the Guidance Website .

Section 8025 of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), a federal law, permits parents to submit a written request to the school and/or school district prohibiting the disclosure of their child's information, including their child's name, address, and telephone number, to any United States military recruiter without prior written consent. A child's name can be removed from these lists by filling out the  Military Exempt Form  and returning it to the Guidance Department.
