October 24, has been designated as National Acupuncture day.  The purpose of the day to educate the public on the benefits of using certified practitioners.  It also is a great opportunity to share personal experiences on how Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture have improved the lives of so many people.

"I love ilumina Healing . I started going to ilumina healing a few years ago to balance out some issues we get as women.  I have to say acupuncture is one of the most relaxing and healing experiences you will ever have in life. It's like a proverbial reset button, that when you're done with your treatment you feel 100% better. The staff at ilumina healing is well educated in this field and are the best in its class ".

Proven Benefits of Massage Therapy

By: Audrey Blanchard LMT

Massage Therapy Awareness Week is October 20th-26th

Stress is a part of every day life. No matter how organized your schedule or laid back your attitude, it is hard to escape stress. The more we learn about the physical effects of stress, the more we understand how important it is to find positive ways of dealing with stress. From meditation to regular exercise, people have found many ways to combat stress and stay healthy.  Now, new research is beginning to show the benefits of adding massage therapy to your health and wellness program.

In a 2010 study, researchers at Cedars-Sinai investigated the physical effects of massage therapy,

Audrey- Massage

finding that the 29 subjects who received 45 minutes of Swedish massage therapy had an immune boosting response when compared to 24 subjects that received 45 minutes of light touch. Hormone and blood cells were measured before and after the massage, and at regular intervals up to one hour after the massage. Says Dr. Mark Rapaport, chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences, "this research indicates that massage doesn't only feel good, it may also be good for you." The blood tests of participants who experienced Swedish massage showed changes indicating a benefit to the immune system, as well as a decrease in the stress hormone cortisol.

Most importantly, is that these results were seen after only a single massage. So, consider making massage therapy a regular part of your health and wellness regimen.
