May is now National Adolescent Health Month! We appreciate the Office of Population Affairs re-branding this awareness month (originally it was known as Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month) so that it now celebrates young people’s strengths and potential, encourages youth engagement, and highlights key topics for adolescent's health.

Partner Spotlights
Wesley Community & Health Centers, one of our Title X agencies, rolled out their mobile unit 'Wesley on Wheels' late last year. The unit has already provided over 1,000 vaccines to youth in Phoenix! Staff onboard the unit are able to promote sexual and reproductive healthcare services provided at Wesley's brick & mortar sites as a complement to their community outreach.
AFHP recently distributed condoms and information on Title X services to Street Medicine Phoenix. These resources will assist in SMP's efforts to provide person-centered care for individuals experiencing homelessness in Phoenix. This inter-professional health care and social justice team consists of students and faculty from AZ universities who volunteer to bring services to this population. Congenital syphilis rates are highest in the West and South. New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, and Nevada had the highest rates of congenital syphilis in 2020. All but three states — Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont — reported having cases.
