Building Advantage's Annual Construction Career Fair

Hosted at Fiserv Forum, local students learned about construction careers

On Tuesday, November 1st, 700 students from 32 local high schools attended our annual event which seeks to promote career paths in the building and construction trades. A variety of hands-on activities from trades and contractors gave students the valuable opportunity to better understand the differences and benefits of each of the trades. We're proud to promote registered union apprenticeship and the benefits that it brings to individuals and our community.

Resources for Counselors and School Staff

Find helpful information and resources about careers in the trades on our website

As the skilled labor shortage continues, tradespeople are in high demand and can earn well beyond the wages of college graduates. The union construction industry invests in standardized apprenticeship programs specified for each trade which creates a safe, educational environment for hands-on and classroom learning. Instead of accumulating costly college debt, apprentices earn wages while receiving a valuable “trades degree”.

5 Reasons Why Union Apprenticeship is the First & Only Choice

Learn more about union construction's ‘four-year degree’

A college degree is often viewed as the only path after high school. However, traditional schooling to get a four-year degree isn’t the right choice for everyone. Hands-on learning in an everchanging work environment is a great opportunity for those interested in something different.

Queue union registered apprenticeship. Referred to as a “trades degree,” union registered apprenticeships take between two to five years of classroom and on-the-job training for experienced professionals to complete. Once a person reaches journeyperson status, their career path can advance as far as they want it to.
