Your work is truly important and life-changing.

Recap: October Virtual Counselor Town Hall

Thank you to all who joined our first virtual town hall session of the 2023-24 school year on Friday, October 13. Our fall counselor town hall session featured members of the National CCAA Transfer Task Force on Zoom as they addressed some of the topics affecting students considering transferring to four-year colleges and universities.

We look forward to seeing you at a future virtual town hall session in the new year.

Thank You Baltimore!

Thank you to all of our counseling colleagues who visited us at the National CCAA's exhibit booth, attended the Catholic Educators SIG meeting, and to those who attended our annual Catholic Colleges Reception during the 2023 NACAC Conference in Baltimore this fall.

We were thrilled to have the chance to say hello to so many of our colleagues in person and had fun seeing everyone mingle and catch-up during the 2023 Catholic Colleges Reception at the Guinness Open Gate Brewery.

In October, many of our National CCAA members celebrated National Transfer Student Week 2023. Taking place from October 16-20, schools celebrated transfer students and the professionals who support them on their journeys. The theme of this year's NTSW was "Full Steam Ahead!"

According to the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students, this annual event is held every third week of October with the goal of "challenging assumptions, building empathy, and instilling transfer pride" across campuses.

The celebrations across our member campuses included career development presentations, sporting events, Swag Swaps, community service projects, and of course, lots of treats and prizes.

To learn about the transfer journeys of two students enrolled at our member colleges, please watch the videos below. In the first video, you'll hear from Madison, a student at Le Moyne College (Syracuse, NY) and in the second, you'll hear from Sophia, a student at St. Edward's University (Austin, TX).

Welcome to Our New Social Media Intern

We are excited to share that we have hired our first Social Media Intern, Aisha Barragan. Aisha is a senior psychology major at National CCAA member Mount Saint Mary's University in Los Angeles, CA; she started working with the National CCAA this fall.

Aisha's duties will include creating social media content, including producing videos that will show a student's perspective and help highlight her experience as a student at a Catholic university.

Aisha shared "I love going to a Catholic college because of the tight-knit community and small class sizes. I really feel like professors and staff get to know you and help you thrive."

If there are any topics you'd like to Aisha cover on our social media pages or in a future counselor e-newsletter, please email us your ideas.

If you have any questions or would like to add a counselor colleague to our email list, please contact us at info@nationalccaa.org.
