The Artwork Commissions program of the Maryland State Arts Council is pleased to release a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for two public artworks! Both commissions are for the campus of the Maryland School for the Deaf (MSD) in Frederick, Maryland, an arts-vibrant city 50 miles northwest of Washington, DC.
Artists or teams of artists with personal experience living in Deaf culture and familiarity with DeafSpace principles are encouraged to respond by the deadline of Oct. 25. Artwork should inspire MSD students to pursue their creativity, achieve their desired post-secondary goals, and evoke feelings of joy, pride, hope, and fun. Click here to learn more and submit, and see below for further details on the commissions and an upcoming informational session.
Budget:
- Commission A: $65,000, MSD Veditz Building
- Commission B: $180,000, MSD residence halls
- Semifinalist travel stipend: $2,500
Please note that the RFQ is a call for background information. Artwork proposals will only be accepted from selected artists after the RFQ period has concluded.
