Automotive Cybersecurity Module Webcast

Interested in the intersection of security and automobiles? This webcast is for you. Northern Virginia Community College has compiled an Automotive Cybersecurity Module for integration into Automotive Technology programs. The module is based on work developed by the Center for Automotive Embedded Systems Security (CAESS) and addresses vulnerabilities in a variety of on-board automotive electronic systems.

3CS 2022 Dates Announced: Get ready for loads of workshops and fun at the seventh annual Community College Cyber Summit (3CS) hosted at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, OH, May 23-25, 2022. This year’s event features Cybersecurity Skills Development Workshops, a multitude of presentations and panel discussions, a Career Exploration event and tours of Dayton. Register HERE.
Social Engineering Educator Workshop
Temple university will host a 6-hour virtual workshop for full-time educators (high school & higher education institutions) on Feb. 26 to introduce attendees to the SE topic, tactics and persuasion techniques used, SE playbooks, and relevance to cyberattacks and cybersecurity. Attendees will also engage in safe, ethical, and fun hands-on social engineering activities in teams. The workshop will end with an interactive discussion with implementing SE training and education at their respective organizations. Applications are due by Feb. 1 at 5pm ET.

CISA's Cyber Career Pathway Tool/Roadmap

This digital tool offers an interactive way for working professionals (cyber and non-cyber), employers, students, and recent grads to explore and build their own career roadmap across the 52 different NICE Framework work roles. Users can select up to five work roles to learn more about their shared skillsets, alignment to the Cyber Skill Communities, or related specialization and functions. The Cyber Career Roadmap highlights the mobility between these connection points to help you and others determine the next steps in your career progression and skillset development.
The tool also offers recommended on/off-ramps (i.e. stepping stones) and secondary work roles to consider and pursue in your career roadmap.

Top 10 Paying Remote IT Jobs in 2022
As the pandemic continues, so do job postings for remote work opportunities, especially in IT. In fact, tech jobs are among the most likely to be remote. Tech companies are not only beefing up their tech infrastructure to support remote IT jobs, they’re also paying top dollar for some of these roles. Though many job ads will list a bachelor’s degree in their requirements, the job market these days is becoming increasingly open to self-taught programmers and IT experts who acquired their skills through bootcamps and certification programs.

Faculty Grant Development and Mentoring Program
The FORCCE-ATE Faculty Development and Mentoring-Coaching program is designed to educate participating community college teams about the National Science Foundation (NSF) Advanced Technological Education (ATE) program, to empower them to write competitive grant proposals, and to mentor/coach them through the otherwise daunting writing process. FORCCE-ATE includes many areas of cybersecurity and computing education, such as information technology, computer science, digital forensics, Cloud, IoT, data science, bioinformatics, AI/machine learning, and others.
FORCCE-ATE builds on a track record of success. The success rate of the June 2020 virtual Faculty Grant Development Workshop was 73%. Of the 11 community college teams that submitted proposals to the ATE program, eight received funding.

The deadline for mentee colleges to apply is Apr. 1, 2022 with preference given to teams that apply by Mar. 1, 2022 or until all available slots are filled. The online application is available HERE.

2022 NICE Conference Call for Proposals

This year’s theme, “Demystifying Cybersecurity: Integrated Approaches to Developing Career Pathways,” inspires presentations that takes a holistic view of cybersecurity risks that considers the dimensions of people, process, and technology and includes a comprehensive approach to the development of career pathway systems that address the lifecycle of a learner from early education through a life-long career in cybersecurity.
By integrating approaches from across the larger cybersecurity education, training, and workforce community, effective practices and solutions can be shared in the development of multiple career pathways, regardless of academic, demographic, socio-economic, geographic, or professional background. Deadline for the first three tracks closes Jan. 16.
