Industry and Community College Apprenticeship Success
The next Virtual Brown Bag Lunch is “Employer-led Secure Software Development Dual Model Apprenticeship Partnering with Community Colleges” on Wednesday, March 13, 1 p.m. ET. Guest Girish Seshagiri will discuss how community colleges working with industry can create pathways to in-demand, high wage, high technology jobs through a dual model apprenticeship. A pioneer program from the Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute will be highlighted.

CAE Executive Leadership Forum
Executive leaders, CAE principal investigators and academic team members are invited to attend the Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity Executive Leadership Forum, April 24-25, at the University of West Florida, in Pensacola Beach, Florida. This year's theme is "Cybersecurity innovation through academic, industry and government collaboration." Some issues on the table are the job shortage and national initiatives with opportunities to network.

The National CyberWatch Center is accepting submissions for the 3rd annual Innovations in Cybersecurity Education Awards and Recognition Program. Top picks will be awarded in the following categories: Evidence-based Strategies, Instruction, Practice and Program Development. Submissions will be accepted through May 3.

Cyber Embassy Night
The Cyber Intelligence Initiative, sponsored by The Institute of World Politics, has a number of activities and opportunities planned for March, including its third annual Cyber Embassy Night on March 20 for NATO and Five Eye Embassies. Daniel P. Bagge, cyber attaché of the Czech Republic to the United States and Canada, will present.

Fresh Opportunities in Northern Virginia
Amazon HQ2 is expected to open in Northern Virginia, bringing with them a renewal of opportunities for students in cybersecurity and other tech fields. Germanna Community College, a National Cyber Watch member, along with the University of Mary Washington engaged in an information technology summit that yielded ideas and hope for additional pipelines for students and graduates to fill new and existing tech jobs.

New Cybersecurity Training Program
Baylor University, a National CyberWatch member, and McLennan Community College have partnered with the U.S. Department of Justice to offer a cybersecurity program for law enforcement officers. The Cyber-Security Operational Research and Training Program aims to equip law enforcement officers with training to thwart efforts to compromise internet-connected devices critical for financial, business and government operations.
