Enter Pilot Program
The Information Security Fundamentals Readiness Assessment Pilot program makes available a concept inventory formative assessment that determines readiness to enroll in an Information Security Fundamentals/Security+-type course. The assessment is anonymous but provides institutional encoding of respondent IDs to permit individual reporting without divulging the identity of the participant to the National CyberWatch Center. Any faculty member or corporate trainer may register to participate.

Hands-On Security Education Workshops
The objective of the SEED workshops is to provide training to instructors who are interested in using SEED labs in their courses. During the workshops, instructors will work on the SEED labs that they are interested in, with the help from SEED. SEED will also share with the instructors their experience in using these labs. Each year, two workshops are held at Syracuse University. The 2019 workshops are May 29-June 1 and June 3-June 6.

California State University, Chico won the 2018 National CyberWatch Center’s Innovations in Cybersecurity Education Award for Lab Activity.

NIST Final Public Draft Available for Viewing
NIST has posted a final draft of a special publication on “Risk Management Framework for Information Systems and Organizations: A System Life Cycle Approach for Security and Privacy.” Embodying seven major objectives, NIST is seeking comments and feedback on this document until Oct. 31.

IRSC Cyber Program Earns CAE Designation
Indian River State College (IRSC), a National CyberWatch member, has been designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Two-Year Education (CAE2Y). The designation acknowledges the college’s rigorous academic program and its Cyber Center of Excellence. With this designation, the college will enhance its education for cybersecurity experts in the fields of science, technology, engineering, math, language and analysis, and graduates will receive certifications recognized by the NSA.
