Further, it is important to emphasize that the health and safety of children affected by parental or caregiver substance misuse is also of the highest priority at this time. Research has established that the risks to children increase during times of high stress and financial uncertainty. Certainly, our current situation related to the pandemic, is a distinct time of stress. National DEC would like to offer whatever assistance is in our scope to help communities with awareness and building capacity to best serve these children.
