Coming To The Table – RVA (CTTT-RVA), along with Coming To The Table sister chapters in the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as the Richmond Pledge To End Racism will host self-described social-justice singer-songwriter, CRYS MATTHEWS, in honor of the National Day of Racial Healing (NDRH) on January 18, 2022 7:30 - 9:00 pm ET (other time zones' start times above Crys' photo). The concert will be livestreamed from the theater of one of our cherished organizational partners, the Virginia Museum of History and Culture

The NDRH centers around experiences rooted in truth-telling, offering people, organizations, and communities a day to focus on racial healing, bringing people together to take collective action for a more just and equitable world. In Coming To The Table (national parent organization) and in CTTT-RVA specifically, we work daily to support racial healing that recognizes the need to acknowledge and tell the truth about past wrongs created by individual and systemic racism and address the present consequences. With this acknowledgement we can facilitate trust and build authentic relationships that bridge divides created by real and perceived differences.

We believe that this concert performed by CRYS MATTHEWS will give you the joy and the strength to move into the new year with renewed passion, resolve and courage. Crys is known for – in her words - “creating music to inspire and encourage, to change hearts, not minds.” We believe it is essential to bring about racial healing, in part by making healthy change in our community. If systems and structures are to be transformed for the long haul, the people who maintain those systems must first be transformed. Each of us needs to see in new ways.

This livestreamed event is free and access will be available to the public. A suggested donation of $50 (or whatever amount you feel moved and able to give) is optional. Your gift will not only help us offset the cost of the concert, but may also enable us to continue the “courageous, clumsy and often uncomfortable” conversations on race we have come to recognize as a necessity in moving beyond the legacy of enslavement.

THANK YOU for your presence as a changemaker in the world where your light and your actions are very much needed!
