Engage - Act - Effect Change

Facebook            Instagram            Web            Email

Dear All,

After Alex Pretti's killing on Saturday, two things became painfully clear about the Trump administration and ICE. First, if ICE agents were willing to kill a White American citizenin broad daylight--while wearing body camswith multiple witnesses, several of whom were taking videos--then they must not fear any accountability for their actions. And, we must ask: what happens when there aren't witnesses, and when the victims are non-White and non-citizens?

Second, the Trump administration's willingness to lie on camera, and double down on those lieseven when videos prove they are lyingmakes it impossible to trust anything they say.

These realities were already clear to most of us, but what changed this weekend is that independents and some Republicans have begun to call them out publicly.

And, one more thing became clear: The nonviolent resistance movementin Minneapolis and across the countryis effective. Without observers, the country wouldn't know the truth of what happened at 9am in Minneapolis; we would have to trust the government's word that Pretti was a domestic terrorist who was brandishing a weapon and threatening federal agents. Without millions of people sharing their outrage on social media, this story wouldn't have gotten the traction it did. Without thousands of Minnesotans braving the cold during their many protests, we wouldn't have hope that the average American wants a change from the brutal tactics of the Trump government.

This movement is powerful because it shows that Americans from all walks of life are willing to stand united to protect a democracy that works for all. Thank you for your role in it—and read on to see ways you can be involved this week.

Truth Brigade Training

Presenter: Vanessa Linsey

When: Tuesday, February 10, 2026

Where: Winchester Public Library, Large Meeting Room

Time: 6p-7:30p

Professional mediator Vanessa Linsey headlines Indivisible Winchester's speaker series on January 26th with a lively, interactive communication workshop. In this 90-minute session inspired by Indivisible's “Truth Brigade,” attendees will learn positive approaches to political conversation at a time of unprecedented polarization and disinformation. Participants will understand how to recognize disinformation, when to engage (and when NOT to), and what they can do to change the dynamic through truthful, firm, and friendly conversation tactics. Attendees may role-play de-escalation, practice finding common ground, focus on fact sharing, experiment with “stop and think” questions, and try drafting social media comments. Staying composed during rapid response moments is easier said than done, and this hands-on session will prepare attendees to communicate effectively and positively. Space is limited and confirmations will be required before the event.

About the presenter:

Vanessa is a professional mediator and mindfulness expert who has worked in the wellness space for 16 years.

Please RSVP if you plan to attend, and cancel your RSVP if your plans change. Since this is an interactive workshop, we need to be sure that we are not under or over subscribed. Confirmations will be required before the event. We appreciate your understanding.

**Please Note: This is a 90 minute program**

If the RSVP link indicates that the program is full, please email us at IndivisibleWin@gmail.com to request placement on the waitlist. At our past programs, we have been able to invite the waitlist to join us.

Guiding Kids Through Hard News

How do we help the children in our lives understand and process the violence and cruelty that we ourselves find hard to handle? How should we talk—or choose not to talk—about what they may be hearing or seeing in the news? And at what age is it appropriate to discuss these issues?

These are just some of the questions you might be asking yourself if you have children of any age in your life. For helpful ideas, check out this article HERE, which offers guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Tell Congress to rein in ICE now

A simple form (taking less than a minute) that will send a pre-written message to your legislators. There is a chance to add your own additional comments if you choose.

A broad coalition of groups across the country, including Indivisible, is demanding that Congress answer our call to get ICE Out For Good.

This coalition is specifically demanding that Members of Congress oppose any appropriations bill that includes increased funding for ICE or Border Patrol, and refuse to vote for any funding bill for DHS unless certain criteria are met.

More information and the form HERE.

Call your Representative to stop Trump's War in Venezuela

The Trump administration is disregarding national sovereignty and forcing a regime change--all without authorization from Congress and without citing evidence of a legitimate threat to the United States. The Constitution states clearly that war powers belong to Congress, not the White House. Call your representative to stand up to Trump.
