How long do posterior composite fillings typically last?

Have you ever wondered how long your posterior composite restorations last? In the largest US study to date, Dr. Thankam Thyvalikakath and colleagues analyzed over 700,000 posterior composite restoration placed in 200,000 patients across 99 Network dental practices. The findings from this Electronic Dental Record data (EDR) analysis have been recently published in the Journal of Dentistry.

FreSH Practitioner, Crystal Schaeffer

Crystal Schaeffer, RDH, from the Midwestern region, joined the FreSH study to enhance her understanding of tobacco use. She shares her experiences addressing tobacco use with patients, her team's recruitment strategies for the study, and the valuable training she received from the PBRN. Crystal says being in the FreSH study has made her eager to continue helping people quit smoking even after the study concludes.

This will be a 30-minute presentation on the best practices for adjunctive antibiotics in periodontal treatment presented by Dr. Kotsakis, the PAAS principal investigator, and Dr. Araujo, clinical researcher and Dean of the School of Dental Medicine at University of Buffalo.


You will also learn about the to the newest study hosted by the Network, the Periodontal Adjunctive Antibiotics Study (PAAS), a randomized controlled trial testing the effectiveness of adjunctive antibiotics in the treatment of periodontal disease. The PAAS study is recruiting dentists, periodontists, dental therapists, and hygienists who want to contribute to the science of periodontal antibiotic therapy.
