November 2019
November is National Family Caregivers Month
The Administration for Community Living implemented the National Family Caregiver Support Program in 2000. Following this initiative, each President since has proclaimed November "Family Caregivers Month" recognizing family caregivers for all they do to ensure the health, safety & dignity for the people they care for.
Caregiving in America
According to AARP's 2015 Report on Caregiving there are 43.5 million caregivers in America. The typical caregiver is a 49 year old female caring for a 69 year old relative due to a long-term physical condition. That caregiver continues to work full time and provide on average 24.4 hours of care per week.
