SciGirls LogoThe SciGirls approach is rooted in research about how to engage girls in STEM. A quarter of a century of studies have converged on a set of common strategies that work, and they have become the framework for SciGirls. SciGirls conducted a literature review, funded by the National Science Foundation, to update the strategies with the latest gender equitable and culturally  responsive research. NGCP National Webinar: Exploration of Other Worlds Using NASA Solar System Treks

This hour long webinar will introduce NASA's Solar System Treks (SST) which is a free resource that contributes to STEM learning. The SST portals enable students to study the surfaces of the Moon, Mars, Vesta, Ceres, Titan, and Icy Moons. The portals aim to provide interactive and innovative ways to inspire, inform, and educate a worldwide audience. Participants will hear directly from REGISTERoutreach specialists from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Ames Research Center, and have the opportunity to ask questions about the visualization tools.

Suzy Billington
Meet Suzy Billington. Suzy works as an Operations Engineer in a manufacturing plant in Michigan. She first discovered her passion for operations engineering while working as a summer intern in a manufacturing plant that makes parts for the automotive industry. Although she has a Civil Engineering degree, the work she does is mostly in the chemical and mechanical engineering fields. Suzy says she is grateful to work for a company that doesn't box her in, and allows her to work outside of her educational discipline. To learn more about Suzy visit her profile.

NCGS Conference Logo 2019 Dream, Dare, Do: Girls as Makers, Inventors, Engineers, and Entrepreneur National Coalition of Girls' Schools Conference
Los Angeles, CA; June 24-26, 2019
Explore essential questions and ideas about the pedagogies, tools, physical space, and mindsets necessary to create environments in which girls can take risks, try new things, and shatter stereotypes. Panels will include an all-female panel of Disney Imagineers along with panels dedicated to Financiers & Philanthropists, Entrepreneurs, Innovators, STEM, and Makers. Programming includes Breakout, INSPIRE! and SNAP! sessions. Pre- and post-conference activities include a guided visit to Carnegie Observatories to gain an insider's look at Pasadena's oldest scientific establishment, learn about the latest research, and tour the facilities where instruments are made for some of the telescopes used in the global coordinated effort to capture the first photograph of a black hole.
