THE WISDOM OF GRANDPARENTS

National Grandparents Day will be celebrated on Sunday, September 8.

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the many valuable lessons I learned from my grandparents, especially during those summer months when my family and I would stay with them in Syracuse, N.Y. Their home, situated just 200 feet from Oneida Lake, was a place where countless memories were made.

Richard Thomas Hansen, 91, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2024.

In 1990, he began serving as the Construction Director of the Texas District Church Extension Fund - overseeing Texas LCMS churches being built. Even after retiring from Texas CEF, he still served the ministry as CEF Rep at Faith Lutheran Church in Huntsville.

“Richard became a respected businessman, devoted husband and father, and a friend to many people. He was an inspiration to many, a mentor and an example of what a godly man should be. He was a giving, selfless and loving man. His family and friends were fortunate to be a part of his life and to be influenced by the way he lived out his Christian faith.”

The Hansen family has been a strong supporter of the Texas CEF ministry. We lift them up in prayer during this time.
