Scrub Up for a Healthier You!

Let's get our hands clean and our minds at ease!

National Hand Hygiene Week is here, December 2 to 6, 2024. It's the perfect time to remind ourselves of the importance of this simple yet powerful habit. By washing our hands regularly, we can significantly reduce the spread of bacteria and illnesses.

Here are some quick tips to keep in mind:

  • Wet: Wet your hands with clean, running water.
  • Lather: Apply soap and lather well, covering all surfaces of your hands.
  • Scrub: Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds.
  • Rinse: Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.
  • Dry: Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.
  • Fun Fact: Singing "Happy Birthday" twice takes about 20 seconds!

Beyond the Basics: Germ-Fighting Tips

  • Carry hand sanitizer: Keep a small bottle of alcohol-based hand sanitizer with you at all times.
  • Avoid touching your face: Germs can easily enter your body through your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Clean frequently touched surfaces: Regularly disinfect objects like doorknobs, countertops, and phones.
  • Cough and sneeze into your elbow: This helps to prevent the spread of germs.
