The Center at AMCHP 2023!

The Center hosted several sessions at the highly anticipated AMCHP conference in May, with more than 1,000 people in attendance in person, and a few hundred more online. The Center sessions reached more than 370 people at the conference. Three of the sessions were three-hour skills-builders, giving MCH professionals an opportunity to really dig into the learning content. We also hosted two workshops and contributed to a CYSHCN Directors Meeting.

Thanks to all our friends (old and new!) who stopped by our exhibit booth to say hello. For more information on our presentations at AMCHP, click here.

Center Staff Attend the Empowering Communities

for a Healthy Mississippi Conference

Center staff were pleased to attend the 2023 Empowering Communities for a Healthy Mississippi Conference in late May. Rebecca Greenleaf facilitated sessions on Navigating Challenging Conversations and Successful Engagement with People with Lived Experience. The ECHM conference is the largest gathering of public health professionals in Mississippi, attracting more than 400 local and state administrators, nurses, physicians, educators, researchers, epidemiologists, related health specialists, and concerned citizens. ECHM’s meeting program addressed current and emerging health science, policy, and practice issues in an effort to prevent disease and promote health.

MCHwork Provides Micro-Learning Addressing the Needs of MCH Professionals

The National MCH Workforce Development Center (WDC) and the MCH Navigator have developed several new modules for MCHwork, a microlearning program designed to actively engage busy professionals in the field. This ongoing program draws upon the evidence-based theory of spaced microlearning to ensure that learning happens in small bursts at regular intervals to maximize the learning process.

Check out the series on the MCH Navigator. Follow the links below to find new tools and approaches to help you in your daily "MCH work." More modules are coming soon.

In the early stages of their engagement with Center, the team was introduced to systems thinking tools and quickly realized the impact that this approach could have on the transformational change that they hoped to achieve.
