National Miners Day
December 6, 2021
National Miners Day is celebrated every year on December 6th to recognize and applaud the skill, dedication and hard work miners put into providing many of the products essential to fulfilling America's most vital needs.
Our aggregate crew works hard day in and day out at our Clarendon Quarry and Mendon Pit, mining materials including sand, gravel, crushed stone, washed stone, washed sand, winter salt and sand mix, topsoil, compost, mulch, landscaping stone, and driveway slate.

Safety Corner
Distracted Driving
Over the past couple of years, distracted driving has become a rising concern for roadside safety on a global scale.

Recent distracted driving statistics indicate that the practice causes thousands of deaths in the US as well as tens of thousands globally on an annual basis.
One of the most common causes of distracted driving is cell phone use.

We recently had an issue where an axle broke in one of our vehicles, which required the driver to react very quickly in order to avoid creating a larger hazard. Had this driver been distracted and not focused on their task, this could have gone much worse.
Carbon Monoxide
With winter now in full swing, new hazards present themselves and it's important to understand them so you can prevent harm to yourself or your crew. One hazard that can easily get overlooked in the winter months is the threat of Carbon Monoxide (CO), the silent killer.
CO is odorless, meaning whether it is present on its own or tied in with other gases and smells, it's undetectable. Within minutes of inhaling CO, you can become unconscious and suffocate. This is dangerous not only to the unconscious person, but also to anyone who tries to rescue that person - because the next thing you know, you've got two people down.
