National Newsletter - January 2017

The start of a new year always prompts thoughts about change.  I think we all have a love/hate relationship with that concept.  How about this year we simply focus on moving forward?

There are a lot of reasons to look back especially if we need to learn something.  But we can get lost in the haze of what should have happened - in our personal and professional lives, in our relationships, and in our world.

Don't look back.  That's not the direction you going.  Sometimes Facebook is full of wisdom.

One of the most incredible things about TTN is that there is always something new - a new member, a new program, a new idea for how to improve what we do.  And there are new opportunities to build new relationships even as we endeavor to manage the challenging ones.

In 2017, I envision a stronger TTN.  I see growth and renewed commitment to the idea of impact - our impact on each other and our impact on the world.  After all, our mission says, "As a national organization, The Transition Network is a voice for women who continue to change the rules."  Let's work together to do this.

This year I want us to find our voice - not necessarily in politics, which is on everyone's minds these days - but as women, individually and collectively.  Having a voice requires listening.  This is why we have two ears and one mouth.  I want us to listen more, to be kinder, more supportive, and understanding.  Together we are powerful.  Let's use that power to lift up each other and our TTN community.

Thank you to all who participated in our year-end annual appeal.  Your extra support makes a difference in our ability to continue our important work.

All the best to you and yours for a brilliant 2017!

Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who supported our 2016 Annual Appeal.  We received $17,468 on an anticipated budget of $20,000 in individual donations.

We also want to thank Nancy Reller, Evelyn Noennig and Donna Root for literally putting their faces out there during this campaign.  Their belief in the mission and appreciation of how TTN has impacted their individual lives inspired many of you to open your wallets.

As you may know, the national organization of TTN is funded by membership dues, board contributions and the generosity of members and friends during our annual appeal.  All program revenues are retained by the chapters.

In the coming weeks, we will share the 2017 budget with you so you can see how funds are managed to keep TTN operating.

Welcome, Vicki!

We are pleased to introduce Vicki Beerman, who has joined our TTN staff as a Member Services / Marketing & Administrative Assistant.  How's that for a terrific New Year's gift!

Vicki has a strong background in design and editing.  She hails from Columbus, Ohio, graduating from Otterbein College and Columbus College of Art & Design with degrees in Marketing, French, and Advertising Design.  She currently lives in Brooklyn, NY where she just started her own business designing and selling hand-painted artisanal scarves.  Being a business owner, Vicki has exactly the variety of skills we need to help us support the great work we do here in The Transition Network.

Vicki is working in the NY office Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.  Her responsibilities include direct member, chapter and chapter leader support, internal operations, light bookkeeping and marketing - meaning she does just about everything!
