National Newsletter - October 2016

This isn't about politics.  It's about us.

Was it only a week ago that Michelle Obama reminded us of our right to respect and dignity?  In this era of information coming at us 24/7, it feels like weeks, not days, since she challenged us to refute bigotry and remember that we have knowledge, we have a voice, we have power.

Who of us hasn't experienced a situation that made us feel demeaned or "less than?"  As a woman in business, I remember how it felt to be asked to get the coffee even though I was at the same level as other vice presidents in the room.  I know that sounds like something out of "Mad Men" but it didn't happen that long ago.

I'm not going to presume that I can even come close to replicating the powerful words our First Lady spoke last week.  But I'm glad to say it has started a conversation.

So let's talk.

TTN Website 2.0

Next month we will launch a new version of The Transition Network website.  While it will look a lot like our current site, it will have an updated back end and some new and exciting features for members and chapter administrators.

Some of these new features include the  use of your email address to sign in; a shopping cart so you can renew your membership, register for multiple events and check out once; better navigation of TTN programs versus events offered by our partner organizations.  Chapter leaders will have more options to accurately present programs and events and will benefit from a streamlined payment management system.

Most importantly, the new site will have the most up-to-date security to protect our members' information and deliver an enhanced member experience.

Look for these changes to come in November.  We will do our best to deliver a smooth transition to the new platform and we thank you in advance for your support and patience throughout the process.
Partner Spotlight:   Pace University

The very first Encore Transition Program offered by Pace University in 2013 included 5 members of The Transition Network.  Since then, 18 other members (and one husband) have been among the 123 people who have participated in this program that is designed to help individuals learn more about the world of non-profits as a second, or even third "act."

Pace offers a program that perfectly fits in with our mission to support women in transition.  As a TTN partner, they appear on the pages of our Transition Resource Center and receive our support in promoting their offerings to our members.  What do you get?  You get additional resources as you navigate your own transition and determine what you want to do next.  TTN members want to have an impact, to "give back."  The Pace Encore Transition Program delivers an introduction to non-profits, networking with other professionals, and resources to help you achieve your own goals for a meaningful next act.

Read what Richard Eisenberg, a Money & Work Editor had to say about the Pace program on NextAvenue.

The next Encore Transition Program begins on November 14.  For more information and to register for this class, visit their website or contact Program Director, Joan Tucker.
