National Night Out, Art In Thomas Greene, No More Metro Cards?
7/30/2019
As always, I hope this email finds you well and
not too hot
, given that a
heat advisory
remains in effect.
I'd be the first to admit that I thrive in air-conditioned comfort but, as
our electricity is being used at the highest rates of the year
, it’s recommended that we turn up the thermostat and reduce the risk of blackouts.
Anyway, moving on to a few items that could end up being useful….
Some
ways to beat the heat
from The New York City Office of Emergency Management
(
OEM
)
.
Keeping with the theme of preparedness, if you enjoy a good podcast, the
latest edition of “Prep Talk”
from OEM may intrigue ,and then, inspire you to
check out CERT
.
A week from tonight, Tuesday, August 6th, is
National Night Out Against Crime
.
The
76th Precinct
will be holding their celebration, 4:00 pm- 7:00 pm, at
Coffey Park
while the
78th Precinct’s
celebration will be at
Grand Army Plaza
from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm
.
Looking ahead to Saturday August 24th, a
very interesting art project by the name of “Time Seed”
comes to
Thomas Green Park
with the support of many organizations including the
Gowanus Canal Conservancy
. Big thanks to Joe Anne Brown for putting this on our radar.
DOT will implement pedestrian safety and accessibility improvements at
Atlantic Ave Furman Street later this year (summer/fall)
.
Smith and 9th Street
may need more work
and you
may not need a Metro Card
in the not- too- distant future.
Alternate Side Parking rules will be in effect tomorrow, Wednesday, July 31st. Parking meters will also be in effect.
Subway service changes for tomorrow, July 31st.
Bus service changes for tomorrow, July 31st.
Have a good night and feel free to share this information anyway/anywhere you’d like
