Why do we PTA? So we can make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. 

A huge thank you to all our PTA members throughout Louisiana who made these Certificates of Recognition and Achievement from National PTA possible! Louisiana PTA was one of only 28 states which increased membership over the previous year (2021-22) and earned a Membership Growth Award. In addition, LAPTA was one of the 28 states – no, not exactly all the same ones! – that earned a PTA Footprint Award by having our active PTAs report membership – 95-99% at the Gold level.

Gear up for school with “Go Beyond Grades”

Go Beyond Grades returns for back-to-school, with new resources and tips to help families team up with their child's teacher and start the school year strong:

1. Help the teacher get to know your child using the Dear Teacher Letter.
2. Find out what your child is expected to learn this year and have them take the Readiness Check to see how they are doing with grade-level math and reading skills. Get Questions to Ask Your Child's Teacher About Reading and how to get help at home.
3. Make a game plan and stay connected with the Parent-Teacher Planning Tool.
