Dear Gay,

Did you know today is National Polka Dot Day? If I didn't have a reminder on my phone I might have forgotten but it gives me the perfect opportunity to share something special with all of you.

How many of you have seen Laurie Simpson's take on the Beyond The Cherry Trees quilt? It's on her Instagram - HERE

Her quilt is a fantastic twist on this classic beauty. This quilt was also my first Polka Dot Garden BOM quilt. I thought National Polka Dot Day was the perfect day to give everyone the chance to get this amazing pattern at a special price. Make it like the original or do something updated as Laurie did. No matter what you'll be glad you got this pattern along with all of the unique quilting designs that were used on the original quilt. It's a nearly 100-page pattern!

sew organized 1.jpg

I'll be heading to the quilt retreat in a couple of weeks and I'm trying to be organized. This Sew Organized pattern is perfect! It comes with a frame, elastic, and even a cute label to sew on the side. All you need to add are 2 fat quarters, a little stuffing, and a piece of stabilizer which I added to the shop so if you have the fabric and stuffing, you're ready to make this!

I always seem to have threads on my clothes and when I saw this Oh Happy Day Clothing Brush I couldn't wait to get them. You can bet there's one in my purse and an extra in the car. The darling quilt pattern is a bonus!

Little Blocks 4.5.png

Did you know that potluck dinners started during the 1930s as a way to share food and get together with friends? I always went to them at church growing up and think of the snack table at quilt retreats with the same fondness. I decided the interesting mix of blocks in the quilt was just that - a Potluck of some of the best the 30s had to offer.

Potluck w.jpg

This is an amazing depression-era sampler quilt. The minute I saw it I knew I had to share it with you. The blocks are made using a variety of techniques in a wide variety of sizes. There are 35 blocks in the quilt with filler strips making it all fit together. The quilt came from an estate in Plattsmouth, NE. Founded in 1854, it is one of Nebraska’s oldest cities.  At the time I acquired the quilt I didn’t know exactly when it was made or by who. During my examination of the blocks and quilting, I discovered three sets of initials and the date 1932 quilted in one of the filler strips. How cool is that?!!! The current population of Plattsmouth is under 7000 people so maybe we’ll be able to discover who made this amazing quilt.

  • I’ll be providing you with a pattern via email each week. We'll be using whatever technique will be the easiest method of construction.

  • If we have a difficult block one week, I’ll follow with an easier one or one of the unique quilting designs used in the quilt. That’s how we’ll get to our 52 weeks.

  • A color photo of each block will be included with your patterns.

  • One-time fee for the entire year

  • Starts the first Friday in January

  • Supply list will be sent via email after sign-up

Potluck Block of the Week

Uptown Quilt - full w.jpg

From the moment I saw this circa 1800s antique quilt I knew it was one I wanted to recreate and share with all of you. The original has faded and is worn from being loved through the years yet its beauty shines through. Use your reproduction prints or jump into a new century with Kaffe Fasset prints. We have until the first Friday in January to decide and other than your background fabric, scraps will probably do!

  •  21 different applique quilt blocks!

  • For 20 months beginning January 2022

  • 77" x 96" quilt. I might add a border so I have a queen size quilt for my bed!

  • Receive 1 full-size applique block pattern via email on the 1st Friday of each month beginning January 7, 2022

  • Perfect for hand or machine applique

  • Perfect for wool applique too!!!

  • One time fee for the entire 20-month project

  • (Supply list emailed after sign up)

Uptown Block of the Month

If you missed out on Little Blocks 365 in 2021, you're getting another chance.

These little gems are going to be so much fun. Use your 1930s fabrics left from making the 3030 Quilt or pull out your reproduction prints. How about using solid colors? I've considered Moda's Grunge fabrics for this one. We both have a few weeks to decide and other than your background fabric, scraps will do!

  •  365 different 3" foundation paper pieced quilt blocks so all our points are perfect!

  • For 52 weeks beginning the first Friday in January

  • 74" x 87" quilt or 84" x 100" quilt

  • Receive 7 foundation paper-pieced patchwork block patterns via email each Friday. You can work on them over the weekend or make one each day!

  • One time fee for the entire year

  • (Supply list emailed after sign up)
