To Prevent Falls in Construction
Sept. 14-18, 2020
The National Safety Stand-Down raises fall hazard awareness across the country in an effort to stop fall fatalities and injuries. Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees and those deaths were preventable.
This is not just for construction employees. A Safety Stand-Down is a voluntary event for employers to talk directly to employees about "Fall Hazards" and to reinforce the importance of "Fall Prevention". It's also an opportunity for employers of companies not exposed to fall hazards to discuss other job hazards they face, protective methods, and the company's safety policies and goals. To learn more go to the OSHA website.
To help you participate, PHASE Associates provides comprehensive Fall prevention and Construction safety consulting services and training which include but not limited to OSHA Fall Protection training and assessments, Ladder Safety training, 10- and 30-Hour Construction training, and customized Job Safety Analysis/Inspections and/or Health & Safety Plan (HASP) to help reduce incidents, accidents and injuries at a job site.

The CDC recently published a fact sheet on heat stress prevention for returning employees to adapt to the work environment while also protecting themselves. It is suggested to wear light weight face coverings and take more frequent breaks. In the workplace employers or building owners should reevaluate the ventilation and provide cooling stations.
