Study away with the National Student Exchange (NSE)!

NSE offers study away to colleges and universities throughout the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands for a summer, semester, or year. NSE offers 175+ campuses to choose from.

Where do you want to go?

Why NSE?

NSE students can take new classes, meet new people, research grad programs, network in another job market, and experience the geographic and cultural diversity of the U.S. and Canada. Some of the most popular destinations for U of M students include: Hawaii, Alaska, California, New York, Puerto Rico, Canada, and Multicultural Serving Institutions including HBCUs, HSIs, and AANAPISIs.

NSE is affordable: Most students continue to pay U of M tuition on exchange; others will pay in-state tuition to their host campus. Most U of M financial aid and scholarships follow NSE students on exchange.

Stay on track to graduate with NSE: NSE credits transfer back easily to the U of M. Many students fulfill Lib Eds and Elective credits through NSE. Talk to your advisor if you want to fulfill major/minor credits on exchange.

NSE is accessible: NSE's eligibility requirements are pretty basic...2.5 GPA minimum; sophomore, junior, or senior standing; and in good standing. International students are welcome. As are DACA and undocumented students.
