Florida Department of Education Hosts Inaugural National Summit on School Safety

Nearly 20 states from across the nation attended Florida’s first-ever National Summit on School Safety hosted by the Florida Department of Education and the Florida Education Foundation. The Summit brought together national education leaders, law enforcement officials, policymakers and school safety specialists to learn about Florida’s nation-leading approach to School Safety.

'Be Cowboy': Bull riders share anti-bullying message with Jacksonville Boys & Girls Clubs

A worldwide group of professional bull riders, launched its Bulls Against Bullying campaign during visits to Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida. The riders donated $5,000 and 100 soccer balls to the clubs.

FPL celebrates 100th anniversary by supersizing STEM Classroom Makeover Grants to 20 Florida schools

Thousands of Florida students will have new opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) as Florida Power & Light Company announces a major expansion of its Classroom Makeover Grant program. Twenty schools across the state will each receive a $50,000 STEM Classroom Makeover Grant.

Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy Celebrates Literacy in South Florida

The Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy hosted its Florida Celebration of Reading in South Florida. This signature event, held to raise support for the Barbara Bush Foundation’s nationwide literacy work, featured appearances by New York Times bestselling authors and special guests including Coco Mellors, Jessica Soffer and Governor Jeb Bush, as well as a video message from Jenna Bush Hager.

Newly introduced legislation would support mentoring in and out of school

As National Mentoring Month ended in late January, several bills were reintroduced to support mentoring activities: A Transition to Success Mentoring Act, Mentoring to Succeed Act, and the Students Helping Younger Students Act. All three bills currently have only Democratic support.

NOW OPEN: New York Life Foundation offers grants up to $100,000 for OST programs serving middle school youth

The New York Life Foundation’s 2025 Aim High grant competition is now open for applications! A total of 30 grants totaling $1.8 million will be awarded to afterschool, summer, or expanded learning programs serving middle school youth.

Youth Mental Health First Aid Course

Youth Mental Health First Aid is a course for participants 18 years and older who want to learn how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who may be experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. This course is designed for adults who regularly interact with young people, including parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens.
