National Travel & Tourism Week Celebrations 2023

Established in 1983, National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) is the annual salute to travel in America. Communities nationwide unite around a common theme to showcase travel’s contributions to the economy and American jobs. Sonoma County is celebrating National Travel and Tourism Week through the following activities. Read on to learn more about how you can join us in celebrating!

Pinot Purple for Hospitality ~ May 7-13

For the fourth consecutive year, Sonoma County Tourism is encouraging, and helping to enable local businesses to cast its properties in purple light - the official color of hospitality.

As a part of National Travel & Tourism Week SCT is providing purple lighting at no cost for businesses with outdoor lighting during the nights of May 7-13. Participating businesses will be recognized for their participation through our website and mobile app.

Stars of the Industry Awards ~ May 9

Celebrating the best and brightest in the hospitality industry at the 2023 Stars of the Industry Awards.

EARLY BIRD tickets for the event are now available for $70 each or $500 for a table of eight through April 14.

Beginning April 15 tickets will be available for $75 each or $550 for a table of eight until capacity is reached. A reception will take place from 5pm-6pm with the dinner & awards program immediately following from 6pm-8pm.

Cast Your Vote for Stars of the Industry

Over 100 deserving nominations were received, and have been pared down to three finalists in each category.

Voting is open through Friday, April 21 at 5pm, and is limited to one ballot per person, per day. Feel free to share this announcement with your peers and the public to encourage voting.

Winners will be announced on Tuesday, May 9 during the Stars of the Industry awards dinner and ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Sonoma Wine Country.

Gold Resolution ~ May 9

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors will be proclaiming May as Travel and Tourism Month in Sonoma County with a Gold Resolution on Tuesday, May 9th during their board meeting.

Destination Sustainability & Resilience Master Plan ~ May 11

After over a year of input, studies, consultation and hard work, Sonoma County Tourism is proud to release our Destination Sustainability and Resilience Master Plan on May 11.

The difference between this plan and other long-term plans is that this one has a focus on resiliency and sustainability. In this case, resiliency means having the resources and capacity to prepare for, respond to and manage through issues, crises or other impacts to the region, the tourism industry and Sonoma County Tourism.

SCT’s capacity to be resilient is dependent on its ability to operate at a fully functional level even during stressors. It will take both leadership and partnership from those both in and outside of the tourism space to bring the plan to life. We look forward to sharing more with you in May.
