Nativity Notes
From the Dean
No matter what, just LOVE one another
Such a scene. The beauty of the baseball diamond filled with youthful aspirations. The pride of hopeful parents watching their young children bring the best of who they are to a sport with an environment that begs of their respect and sportsmanship.

You saw it perhaps as I did, the final game, the final inning of the championship game of the Little League World Series. You saw it perhaps; the moment the coach of the team from Hawaii had with his young team. You knew these kids were special and were coached in a beautiful way by the way they had treated one another and their opponents throughout the tournament. Respectful, courteous, compassionate and blatant in their affection for one another visible in their repeated embrace of one another on the field. They hugged one another with broad smiles on their faces and in the midst of the game taking place!

In a tense moment, three outs away, the coach from Hawaii gathered his team around him and he spoke the most beautiful words of authenticity. “Stay humble, have fun, and no matter what happens, just love one another”. They listened so intently, they received his words as if they were hearing them for the first time, yet knowing they had heard them so many times before. They smiled, they hugged, they took the field, and they won.

Such a beautiful grace-filled moment and how extraordinary to have been “let in” to that moment. I couldn’t help but think of Jesus, with children on his lap, or at a well with a woman, or with a blind beggar at his feet, or with his disciples at the dinner table. “No matter what, just love one another.”
