Steve: The brain releases dopamine when a reward is encountered, such as a sugary treat or an elicit drug. Dopamine function is also critically linked to ADHD, which is thought to be due to diminished dopamine receptor function in the brain. Some ADHD treatments, such as Ritalin, Concerta and Vyvanse are also psychostimulants. Chicken Soup for the Chiropractic Soul has an account of a 13 year old boy who was brought in for chiropractic care due to experiencing seizures at least three times a week ever since he was six years old.
