Storm Damage!

We hope everyone is safe and dried out after the recent storms. We encourage everyone to support the local business that were affected by closures and and property damage!

KLT properties fared okay with the rain, wind, and snow.

However, here is plenty of ice, downed trees, and debris.

Please use caution!

Our Stewardship crews are working to clear the trails. If you see an issue, please contact us so we can remedy it!

Winter is a great time to explore Kennebunk Land Trust trails!

Trail access information to consider as you plan your trip:

  • The parking lots at Wonderbrook, Alewive Woods, and For All Forever typically get plowed all winter
  • Oxbow Preserve and Butler Preserve parking is weather dependent
  • The trails at Sea Road Preserve and Clark Preserve are dependent on the Bridle Path and Eastern Trail being accessible

Winter hiking basics:

  • Layer clothing with a warm base and waterproof shell
  • Bring a map and tell others where you're going
  • Wear shoes that are water resistant with good treads or spikes
  • Carry snacks and a warm beverage to keep your energy and spirits up!

Find more information on planning a safe winter hike here.

Alewive Pond at Alewive Woods freezes over in the winter to allow for ice skating! This is a fun winter activity for all ages.

The pond is not maintained to clear snow or check for thickness, so please use extreme caution. Ice needs to be at least 5 inches thick to skate, and it generally takes 4 days of below freezing temperatures to freeze a pond.

PLEASE NOTE

Snowmobiles, ATVs, and other motorized vehicles are not permitted on any Kennebunk Land Trust properties. Please check the property boundaries of all lands you are on and respect local rules
