The book, which was first released in 1997 was re-released in 2012 with added notes, and revisions and additions, including a new foreword and epilogue and larger print. The book was taken from Jim's notes, and was compiled, edited, and added to by Kenneth Irving after Jim's death in 1995. It is now published by Words and Things, a publishing venture by Kenneth Irving and myself. Allow 7-10 days for delivery.

. We are heading into tough times as seen by the Corona Virus, which probably will not abate anytime soon, and prayers are with people suffering all over the world.

Information about Indian astrology classes will be sent this week. The reason it has taken this long is that I am changing the format so I will finalize. I also intend to have more one-off webinars, and gatherings for those who live in the New York area, where we can meet and talk about Jyotisa as well as learn from teachers who can come in from out of town. The first of these is the gathering on March 14 to the Ganesh temple for those who wish to join.
I am available for private lessons, and for review if you have studied with me. I have a list of those of you who want to start studying Indian astrology so please continue to let me know. Ask about individual tutoring, especially towards ACVA

Navagraha (nine planets) Bathing (abhiseka) and Chanting

I invite you if you live in the New York City area to join me and fellow astrology students for a visit to the Ganesh Temple in Flushing, Queens NY on Saturday March 14 at 9:00 AM for the Navagraha Abhisheka (bathing of planetary devatas). Then at 9:30 we will listen to the Navagraha Sloka Chanting. Then we can tour the temple, gather for tea and food in the cafeteria, and get to know each other.
For those who are interested, afterwards we will go to the Indian neighborhood in Jackson Heights where you can shop, walk around, and all enjoy a meal together. While you can attend the Navagraha bathing and chanting every Saturday when it is open to the public, and go to Jackson heights on your own, I thought it would be nice to do this as a group. Please contact me at [email protected] if you are interested and I will work on cars and car service other than public transportation when possible. But I do need to have a head count. There is no cost except what you may need to contribute to transportation, meals, and a small donation at the temple.
Of course you can always attend the Navagraha Abhiseka and chanting any Saturday morning at the temple, but on the 14th we can do it as a group and meet and learn from each other. For those of you who live near the Krishna Temple in Morganville NJ the Navagraha Abhiseka is held every Saturday morning at 10:00 AM. Wherever you live, you can look for a Hindu temple and ask if they have a Navagraha altar and public Abhiseka and chanting. You can also view Navagraha Abhiseka and Chanting on YouTube.

This webinar will present a historical overview of navagraha propitiation, including when they began to be used in India for purposes of planetary worship and propitiation, the directions they represent, the colors they wear, and how they are used today along with their to strengthen planetary afflictions. This talk is based in part on presentations I gave at the Association of Asian Studies conference and for the Astral Religion module in the MA program at the Sophia Center from University of Wales. The webinar can be taken even if you do not go on the temple tour.

Planetary Stations. Annual retrograde cycles of Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. Venus and Mars retrograde this year. Mars will be in tropical Aries for six months. Whew!. and it will straddle between sidereal Pisces and Aries for eight months. That is because of the retrograde Mars. On Election Day 2020 when we vote for US President, Mercury stations direct, exactly what it did on Election Day 2000 when there was no decision in Bush v. Gore.
Aspects. Some of the more important aspects for 2020 are as follows.
Jan. 8, 2020. Jupiter-Ketu (South Node) conjunction; Jan. 12, 2020. Saturn-Pluto conjunction; Feb. 25, 2020. Mars-South Node (Ketu) conjunction; April 5, June 30, Nov. 12, 2020. Jupiter-Pluto conjunction; Dec. 21, 2020. Jupiter-Saturn conjunction.
Tropical Ingresses. Jupiter will be in Capricorn and Aquarius. Saturn moves into Aquarius. The Nodes move into Gemini and Sagittarius.
Sidereal Ingresses. Jupiter will be in Sagittarius and Capricorn. Saturn moves into Capricorn. Pluto enters Capricorn. The Nodes move into Taurus and Scorpio. We will go over how these planetary signatures affect each Ascendant.
