About the Program

In family law, you often encounter cases involving children growing up without their biological parents or relatives. Situations such as adoption, foster care, guardianship disputes, or involuntary placement bring about complex legal and emotional challenges that leave a lasting impact on the lives of these children and their families.

This program provides family law attorneys with an in-depth understanding of the unique challenges and experiences faced by children growing up without biological relatives. We will explore key topics such as identity loss, loyalty conflicts, emotional suppression, and the influence of societal and legal narratives on their well-being. Additionally, we will examine how these factors affect children’s behavior and relationships and what that means for legal decision-making and client support.

This program is presented by the Family Law section chaired by April Zonnis and Daniel Bemel. The Family Law section is sponsored by White, Zuckerman, Warsavsky, Luna & Hunt. Find out more about the sections at www.bhba.org.
