Greetings!
It feels like just yesterday we were navigating the Y2K bug and the whirlwind of end-of-the-world predictions. Fast forward 24 years, and the world has undergone profound transformations. Amidst these changes, one constant remains—the unwavering generosity and commitment of the TCA family. As we step into 2024, I offer proof of this in our 2023 Annual Report. The results stand as a poignant testament, showcasing once again, year-over-year historic growth and shared accomplishments that define our community.
While we celebrate the successes of another remarkable year, we must acknowledge the reality of good old-fashioned growing pains. The demand for TCA's services has surged, and our current two-person team, despite their unwavering dedication, has reached its bandwidth limit. Now, more than ever, TCA needs your help.
The journey ahead demands a call to action. We must begin creating steering committees, volunteer groups, and an active and engaged Board of Directors. If interested please contact us at Info@turtlecreekassociation.org. We must embrace generous listening for insight and become resonant storytellers as we articulate our path forward to enhance outcomes for the community via city officials, and others.
The bottom line is this, we want to get it right. Our comprehensive master plan will serve as our map. It sets the vision, and it's time to stand it up and bring it to life with your support. As we embark on this transformative journey, TCA Leadership is mindful of the adage 'The speed of the leader is the speed of the game.' We're ready to lead us forward, and very excited about the opportunities ahead for our community. Together, let's elevate Turtle Creek into a premiere urban green space for Dallas.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to the Turtle Creek Association. Let's make 2024 a year of collaboration, achievement, and positive impact.

Mural Vandalised
In a disappointing turn of events, TCA recently discovered vandalism on the vibrant mural under the Lemmon Ave Bridge. What was once a testament to creativity and community spirit has fallen victim to the actions of an individual who has taken residence in this unique public space.
The perpetrator, a homeless individual, has not only set up residency but has also exercised creative license by painting over complete sections of the mural. The extent of the damage is severe.
Upon the initial discovery, confusion shrouded us as we attempted to comprehend the motive behind such an elaborate act of vandalism. It wasn't until the discovery of 5-gallon paint buckets and paint brushes among the homeless individual's belongings that the puzzle pieces began to fall into place.
|
|
|
|
Restoration
TCA has taken swift action by obtaining a bid for power washing the mural. Recall that an important part of the mural installation involved the application of an anti-graffiti clear coat designed to protect against vandalism. However, the extent of the damage poses a unique challenge, as sections have been entirely painted over.
We now await the power washing results and hope the mural can be restored. If the power wash proves unsuccessful, any restoration involving painting cannot be undertaken until warmer weather arrives.
This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the complex issues surrounding homelessness and the unforeseen challenges that public art installations may face. TCA remains committed to maintaining the beauty and integrity of public spaces within the community and will continue to explore solutions to address this unexpected setback.
