PITNEY MEADOWS MONTHLY CONNECTOR
MEET OUR FIRST FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES
A sign of our organizational strength and growth is our ability to fund, recruit, and hire talented full-time staff to continue the incredible groundwork laid to date. Working in partnership with our Board and volunteers, Aliza, Joyce, and Ken will add the support and consistency needed for our future success and capacity to meet the needs of our community. Read more about Aliza (pictured above), Joyce, and Ken here.
TIME TO THINK SPRING
Can you believe it's already time to start planning for our 2019 Community Gardens? Check our new Community Gardens page for more information and to keep up with activity planned for the gardens.

Also, for our existing Community Gardeners, don't miss this letter from Natalie Walsh about the upcoming season at the Gardens.
IN THE NEWS

Pitney Meadows Community Farm along with our partners, Cornell Cooperative - Ag Economic Development Program and the  Saratoga Springs City School District, will be initiating a farm-to-school program for all City schools. As a part of the generous grant from the state, our farm will grow organic produce for all of our district schools.

2018 IMPACT REPORT
Check Out our Year In Review
2018 was our biggest year yet! With the land paid for in full, vital infrastructure improvements made, and a strong and dedicated volunteer base, we are poised for an exciting year at the Farm. Increased programming, recreational opportunities, and exciting community events are all in the works. Take a minute to look back on all we have accomplished together (best to view in Chrome web browser for optimal viewing experience. Click here).
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS GET A BIG BOOST
Anyone who has been to the Farm knows of our unique cluster of historic barn buildings. We have been able to rehabilitate "Bill's Gathering Barn" (the old slaughterhouse) for community events and to construct our high tunnel for larger events. These spaces have proven vital to our ability to offer educational programming and community events, welcoming thousands of visitors in our first years.

Seeing the need for improved infrastructure on the Farm, Judith A. Pitney has stepped forward with a lead gift for additional capital improvements, including the construction of a permanent restroom facility with multiple hand-washing stations to our property, coming this spring. Additional preservation of our existing historic buildings and new construction may be made possible by this gift as well.

Thanks to this lead gift from Judith for $150,000, and a supporting grant of $38,000 from the Lowe's Charitable & Educational Foundation, Pitney Meadows Community Farm is in the process of having designs drawn up for a new building to be added to our cluster of historic farm buildings. Our local Lowe's store here in Saratoga will also help coordinate volunteers for the build.
