It was Shelbyville Auto Parts night at the races Saturday August 25th. Mother Nature dumped a pre race downpour on the facility, but that didn’t dampen the passion of racers and the commitment of the fans at the Tom Wood Group Indianapolis Speedrome Powered by Lincoln Tech. We thank everyone on property for their patience and hard work to get in this show.
The Shelbyville Auto Parts Thundercars had an extra incentive on the line as the series sponsor made it $1,000 to win this main event. The 35-lapper broke green with youngster Jordan Gonder launching to the lead and he would stretch it out. July-August-September title rivals Nate Canter and EJ Neat marched through the pack to begin chasing down Gonder. They caught him in the waning stages. EJ would take the victory followed by Canter and Gonder.
The Last Chance Wrecker Factory Front Wheel Drives has an impressive 42 cars on hand this penultimate All Star 200 weekend requiring a pair of features. The first 30-lapper saw rookie Deven Bowman put on a great performance to earn his initial career Speedrome victory. Point leader Andrew Brown was second followed by Brayton Laster, Trae Bowman, and Roger Gwinn. The second 30-lap main event had Carl Drake continue his strong campaign with win #3. Elijah Brothers was runner-up followed by Josh Garr, Zach Detches, and Scott Stewart Jr.
The Adult Faskarts were unfortunately in the toughest position on this night with track conditions for their light, but mighty machines less than perfect. We thank them for their support and understanding. Point leader Kyle Norris was able to add to his career best season with another feature victory. Bill Derrick was a season best second followed by Chuck McGinnis, Skylar Shouse, Dave Drinkard, Devin Logue, Shannon Maple, and Hunter Goodin.
