One of our primary aims for NAECR is to create connections and collaborations among early childhood researchers from across the University of Nebraska system. To ensure this, we continue to offer various supports and resources.

The Spencer Foundation values work that fosters creative and open-minded scholarship, engages in deep inquiry, and examines robust questions related to education. They seek to support scholarship that develops new foundational knowledge that may also have a lasting impact on policy-making, practice or educational discourse.

The Small Research Grants on Education Program supports rigorous, intellectually ambitious and technically sound research that is relevant to the most pressing questions and compelling opportunities in education.

Research-Practice Partnerships: Collaborative Research for Educational Change
The Research-Practice Partnership (RPP) Grants Program is intended to support education research projects that engage in collaborative and participatory partnerships. This research will result in new insights into the processes, practices and policies that improve education for learners, educators, families, communities and institutions.
Budget: Up to $400,000

U.S. Department of Education Transformative Research in the Education Sciences Grant Program
Transformative Research in the Education Sciences: Through this program, IES seeks to support innovative research that has the potential to make dramatic advances towards solving seemingly intractable problems and challenges in the education field and/or to accelerate the pace of conducting education research to facilitate major breakthroughs.

U.S. Department of Education's Institute of Education Sciences Funding Opportunities
The FY 2025 RFAs for the Institute of Education Science (IES) Education Research and Special Education Research Grant Programs grant competitions are now available!
The application deadline for the following competitions is Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024.
Education Research Grants (84.305A): This program seeks to expand the understanding of education programs, practices and policies in the U.S. and how they are related to education outcomes for learners at all levels, including early childhood, elementary, secondary, postsecondary and adult education. For FY 2025, NCER will consider applications that address one of 11 topics.
Statistical and Research Methodology in Education (84.305D): This program seeks to provide a wide range of methodological and statistical tools that will better enable applied education scientists to conduct rigorous education research. For FY 2025, NCER will consider applications that address one of the following topics: Core Grants and Toolkits.
Special Education Research Grants (84.324A): This program seeks to expand the knowledge base and understanding of learners with or at risk for disabilities from infancy through postsecondary education. For FY 2025, NCSER will consider only applications that address the following topic: Education Systems.
Research Training in Special Education: Early Career Development and Mentoring (84.324B): These training programs seek to prepare individuals to conduct rigorous and relevant special education and early intervention research that advances knowledge within the field, and addresses issues important to education policymakers and practitioners. For FY 2025, there is one training program — early career development and mentoring.

Caplan Foundation for Early Childhood
The Caplan Foundation for Early Childhood is an incubator of promising research and development projects that appear likely to improve the welfare of young children, from infancy through 7 years, in the United States.
Funding is provided in the areas of early childhood welfare, early childhood education and play and parenting education.

Applied Analytics & Data Infrastructure Catalyst Program
The MAP Academy invites faculty across all NU campuses and disciplines to submit proposals for the Applied Analytics and Data Infrastructure (AADI) Catalyst Program — an initiative to support the rigor of high-quality, field-based human subjects research at the University of Nebraska. Proposals that aim to enhance teams' competitiveness for future large-scale funding opportunities are especially encouraged. View a list of available supports for the program.

Each year, the University of Nebraska Minority Health Disparities Initiative (MHDI) hosts a conference to create space for students, researchers, community health professionals, policymakers, and organizations to come together and share strategies and resources for advancing health equity in Nebraska and beyond. MHDI is currently accepting abstracts for the 2025 conference poster session, which aims to highlight various health equity research projects through brief presentations, allowing for more personal conversation and discussion.

On Friday, Oct. 4, Lorey Wheeler, MAP Academy director, will lead a presentation titled, "Developing a Strong Research Data Infrastructure."
The presentation will provide best practices and practical guidance for how to successfully manage human subjects’ quantitative data from project inception to completion. It will outline four crucial steps to be implemented through the life cycle of the project to support data analysis, sharing and archiving: planning, data documentation, database setup and data cleaning.
