What is the future direction for your early childhood research?
"We are developing a translational model for promoting generative verbal behavior in children with autism spectrum disorder that integrates Skinner’s taxonomy of verbal behavior with recent research on emergent verbal responding (emergent verbal behavior involves the learning of new relations between words and their referents without direct training)."
Are there any new research projects or activities that you are starting on now?
"We have submitted a $7 million grant application to the Department of Defense to evaluate the efficacy and effectiveness of the tiered model of service delivery for applied-behavior-analysis treatment of young children with autism spectrum disorder."
Why is early childhood research important?
"Early childhood research is critically important because children’s brains and their social and language skills grow more rapidly during first few years of life than during any other period. Improving our understanding of the variables that affect early childhood has the potential to improve children’s social and academic learning throughout their lifetimes."
