Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS) is characterized by upper extremity pain or weird sensations such as numbness, tingling, prickling, burning sensations, shooting pain, muscle weakness or atrophy, coldness, fatiguability and diffuse pain in the affected arms/hands. 


What Causes TOS:

  • Compressed nerves due to tight muscles.
  • Poor posture found common in computer users, students, and certain sports like pickleball, swimming, volleyball, tennis, and baseball pitchers.
  • The shape of the chest, including traction from pendulous breasts, is thought to promote "shoulder drooping" and can cause symptoms of TOS.  


Symptoms of TOS:

  • Pain, numbness, tingling or other sensations in the hands & fingers.
