Facts about City Year San Antonio:
  • City Year San Antonio partners with teachers and schools to help students thrive and achieve their goals. Their AmeriCorps members work in nine partner schools in the San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD), supporting over 7,000 students. Their goal is to help make school a welcoming, joyful place where students feel like they belong, and where they can learn and grow.
  • AmeriCorps members make a difference in the lives of students and these young leaders also acquire valuable skills and experience that will help them to continue working across lines of difference as civically engaged changemekers. This is City Year's double bottom line.
  • City Year San Antonio's goal is to help every enrolled AmeriCorps member decide on and secure a plan for their Life After City Year (LACY). This plan can include returning to school or pursuing a career. If an ACM has not decided or secured their path by the end of their year of service, City Year pledges to continue mentoring and networking with all CYSA Alumni.
In the 2020-2021 school year, nearly 90% of ACMs secured an admission to university of job by the end of their service year. This year, City Year San Antonio is on track to exceed that number! So far, corps members have been accepted to graduate programs in several disciplines and are pursuing career options by networking with amazing companies such as 3M, ArchPoint Group, Argo, Broadway Bank, Communities in Schools, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Frost Bank, KIPP, SAISD, and more!
