DECEMBER MAINTENANCE GUIDELINES

Plant your container and Ball & Burlap trees.
Review the year's schedule and make plans for next year's improvements.
Water all shrubs and trees at least 24 hours before a hard freeze to help insulate roots.
Continue to control broadleaf weeds in well established warm or cool-season lawns using post-emergent ferti-lome Weed Free Zone.
Start planting spring flowering bulbs.
Remove leaves from cool-season grasses or mow with a mulching mower.
Continue mowing cool-season lawns on a regular basis.
Mulch all beds to add an extra layer of insulation from the winter cold.
Keep pansies moist especially when air is cold and dry.
Drain and store water hoses and wrap hydrants. Clean up all tools. Coat metal surfaces with a thin film of oil to prevent rust.
