Join in the Celebration of Black History Month Honoring the Past and Inspiring the Future February is Black History Month Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. The event grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of noted historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Click here https://asalh.org/black-history-themes/ to learn more about the origins of Black History Month. The national Black History Month theme for 2023 is “Black Resistance,” recognizing the historic and persistent oppression that Black Americans have faced and resisted in all forms. This month is a call to our Eagle community to study the history of Black Americans and help cultivate an environment where Black History is protected and respected. Black History is U.S. History. Join us throughout the month of February for food, special events, lectures, discussions, and presentations to celebrate Black History Month across the community.
