Full-time employees are expected to devote their time to their assigned duties and responsibilities on a full-time basis. Permission to engage in external consulting or other outside employment may be granted in accordance with policies and regulations if all the following conditions are met:

  1. Permission to engage in the employment is requested and received prior to the time the employee accepts external employment;
  2. Activities related to the external employment are not reasonably expected to interfere with the regular work of the employee;
  3. The employee complies with all applicable laws and professional standards of conduct, including conflicts of interest standards;
  4. The employee certifies that research performed in connection with the external employment will be conducted in an objective and scientific manner and in accordance with the highest ethical standards of the employee’s profession; and
  5. An approval process for consulting or other outside employment related to a faculty member’s field or discipline is used and adopted in accordance with the regulation.

Failure to comply with any of these conditions may result in withdrawal of permission to engage in external employment.

Note: External Employment requests will not be granted for a period longer than one year. All authorizations, regardless of length, will terminate on August 31 of the current fiscal year. All employees/faculty members must reapply for authorization each fiscal year, defined as September 1 – August 31.

Parking Permits On Sale Now


Parking permits for the 2023-2024 academic year

are now on sale in the business office for $30.


***Remember...BLV residents move into the dorm tomorrow. After today, August 23rd, parking in the BLV lot is for BLV residents only. Faculty and staff who park there will be ticketed.


*TAMUT offers the least expensive annual faculty/staff parking pass in the TAMU System. Others range from a low of $80 in Commerce to $580 at College Station.

The Faculty Senate Committee for Faculty Research Enhancement and Professional Development is pleased to announce calls for funding proposals for the 2023-2024 cycle.  REMINDERS and ELIGIBILITY  • Funding for research projects (REF) is not to exceed $3000; funding for professional development (FPDF) is capped at $1000.   • Only full-time TAMUT faculty may apply for FRED funding.  • A faculty member may request support for only one proposal in the annual review cycle.  • The applicant does not have outstanding FRED reports from previous review cycles.  • Please see the full FRED Guidelines, including priority and criteria, at https://tamut.edu/academic-affairs/research/files/fred-proposal-guidelines.pdf.  DEADLINES  • Proposals are reviewed on a monthly basis and are due on the last Thursday of each month (9/28/23, 10/26/23, 11/30/23, 1/25/24, 2/22/24, 3/28/24, and 4/25/24 or until funding resources are exhausted).  • All proposals, inclusive of the FRED form and supporting documentation, should be emailed to FRED Committee Chair, Dr. Jaime Cantrell (jcantrell@tamut.edu) as a single .pdf attachment.   • The FRED Committee will review proposal submissions and forward recommendations to Faculty Senate. Faculty Senate will award funds, and the VPAA’s office will notify faculty of award status via email.
