Neel Karody Wins Wisconsin
VISTA Member of the Year
WAFCC VISTA Member Recognized at 2022 Governor's Service Awards
On Thursday, May 26th, former WAFCC VISTA Member, Neel Karody (pictured on the right with Community Outreach Health Clinic Executive Director Linda Smith, and WAFCC Manager Connor Doppler ), was honored at the Serve Wisconsin 2022 Governor's Service Awards as VISTA Member of the Year.

Neel served with Community Outreach Clinic (COHC) in Menomonee Falls from January 2021 to April 2022. He secured the clinic over $80,000 in grants during his time there. He helped the clinic to implement a new medical records platform, as well as, started two new programs for patients that focused on blood pressure and diabetes management. Over 72% of patients enrolled in the Self Monitoring Blood Pressure Program (SMBP) either successfully completed the program or had their blood pressure under control as of their last monthly average reading.

Clinic coordinator Linda Smith shares, "Neel was very helpful in developing programs, documents, and spreadsheets. Programs such as, SMBP, Glooko blood sugar monitoring, and tracking of patient diagnostics were very helpful in our operations and patient outcomes. Because Neel was available on non-clinic days, the Outreach Clinic was accessible to patients calling the clinic. Neel is missed by clinic staff and patients; we all wish him well and good luck in medical school".

VISTA Member Neel Kardoy shared, "My time at the COHC meant a lot to me. I joined the team hoping to explore medicine further and potentially switch careers. Over the year, I built strong relationships with patients, set up lasting systems that will benefit the clinic and patients in the future, and confirmed that medicine is the path I want to pursue."

WAFCC is grateful that Neel chose to serve a year with our organization, and is proud of everything he accomplished. Congratulations, Neel!
