Dear TT Faculty members,
The parties met for the most recent negotiation session on February 11th, 2026. Although negotiations began over six months ago, this was only the parties’ ninth bargaining session given the every-other-week schedule requested by the administration. KSUFA made counter-proposals on Article VIII: Sanctions for Cause and Article XXIII: Miscellaneous. We believe that the parties are very close to tentative agreement on these Articles.
The administration team had nothing to present to KSUFA’s team at this session. This came as a surprise to KSUFA’s team given that the administration has yet to make even initial proposals on eight of the nineteen Articles they had opened for negotiations. In particular, KSUFA awaits initial proposals from the administration on:
Article XII: Salary (KSUFA made its initial proposal on January 28, 2026);
Article XIII: Medical Benefits (KSUFA made its initial proposal on January 28, 2026);
Article XIV: Other Benefits (KSUFA made its initial proposal on September 10, 2025);
Article XV: Faculty Fitness for Duty (KSUFA did not open this Article);
Article XIX: Faculty Professional Development (KSUFA made its initial proposal on September 10, 2025);
Article XX: Intellectual Property Rights (KSUFA did not open this Article);
Article XXI: Distance/Distributed Instruction (KSUFA did not open this Article);
Article XXIV: Duration and Negotiations Process (KSUFA made its initial proposal on September 24, 2025).
KSUFA continues to be disappointed by the very slow pace of these negotiations and our sense that the administration has not appropriately prioritized bargaining a successor contract with the TT Faculty. As negotiations drag on, TT Faculty are the only KSU employees who have not received a cost of living raise this AY. We had approached the administration about the possibility of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that would provide cost of living raises for this AY, but the administration has not expressed any interest in such an MOU.
KSUFA has created a section of our website (https://ksufa.org/index.php/tenure-track-unit/negotiations-2025) dedicated to the TT negotiations. This section contains links to all of the negotiation updates we have sent to our members and links to all proposals on all articles made by either party. From our homepage (https://ksufa.org), you can find the link to the negotiation update both under the TT-Unit drop down menu at the top of the page or just below the Surviving SB 1 section of the homepage.
Although the MOU extending the CBA expired on December 31, 2025, the provisions of the CBA will remain in full force and effect until a successor contract is ratified.
If you have any questions or concerns about negotiations, please don’t hesitate to contact me (dsmith@ksufa.org).
Sincerely,
Deborah Smith
President, KSUFA
Chief Negotiator, TT-Unit
