We are thrilled to announce that we were able to provide $40,000 in student scholarships to 125 students here at NMS for the September 2021-February 2022 session! Through financial Aid and Covid relief support, we are so proud to be able to help keep our students learning and growing, our teaching artists mentoring, and our community uplifted with music! Congratulations to our scholarship winners! You have worked hard, and we can't wait to see(and hear) your progress! And thank you to The Music Man Foundation, Union Pacific Foundation, Pasadena Showcase House, and the individual donors who make these scholarships possible!

As part of our youth development and scholarship programming, NMS has partnered with Disney Music Group to develop the Careers in Music Series that launched on August 20th, 2021! This evening of discussion with an amazing panel of Disney Music Group folks was both inspiring and informative, and allowed our students and teaching artists to get an inside peek at the different ways you can approach a career in music. We learned about the individual ways that each panel member balances the music business with their own identity as musicians, technicians and creatives. On September 25th, 2021 at 6pm, NMS will livestream our 2021 Virtual Benefit, Neighborhood Music School: Healing, Hope & Harmony!

Please join us as we hear from alumni, students, community partners, board members and friends as they share the many ways that music has helped to heal, hope and come together!

This is not only our biggest fundraiser of the year, we will also be sharing some BIG announcements, and we need you!!! Last year's virtual benefit was a lot of fun, and we raised over $100,000! If you missed last year's benefit, you can watch it here, and get excited for the continuation of the NMS story! It is free to attend, and we encourage everyone to RSVP and share our social media announcements! All of the funds raised support our students, scholarships, teaching artists and bridge-building opportunities!

Now that we have moved some classes back into NMS, the covid infection rate continues to grow in LA County, and everyone's safety is our number one priority. We will continue to offer online classes (even after the pandemic) both from the NMS house and the homes of our teaching artists. Everyone inside the house is required to wear a mask at all times.

Please make sure to wear a mask at all times. This is for your safety, the safety of the families at NMS, the staff, and those who live at home with the students, teaching artists and staff.

Returning to the NMS house will include the protocols described in the video at the end of this message.
