Manager's Message

Bonita Terra Residents,

March is already upon us and hope you are all ready for St. Patrick’s Day. Green is the color of March. The more green that you wear, the better luck you will have all month long.

March Thoughts

May your troubles be less

and your blessings be more

and nothing but happiness

walk through your door.

Our community continues to be a leader in our area. Our sales continue to exceed expectations and our amenities are far superior to other communities. Simply put, we are setting the standard for communities to follow.

Our construction improvements continue to stay on schedule and as you all know, our focus is to continue Bonita Terra as a premier resort-style community. March is an example of how beautiful new beginnings can be.

Blessings to all and let's make March the best month so far this year.

Mark Nicklas, General Manager

Our Feb 2nd Trip - Fashion finds made affordable

Some of our wonderful Bonita Terra ladies went out on a Thrifting bus tour for the day on February 2nd. Fun was had by the whole group and new treasures were found. This bus traveled to Bradenton and Sarasota and took a few stops along the way. Our ladies shared a lot of laughs and memories were made. It is always a favorite trip.

Our Mardi Gras Festivities - Mardi Gras is in our Soul

Bonita Terra had its 40th Annual Mardi Gras Festivities in February. They start off the weekend with a Friday night carnival night that always packs the clubhouse. They continue on Saturday with their Royal Dinner dance and announcing the new Royal Court. The party continues into Fat Tuesday with their festive parade and "Mardee" after Party. We spent the day with beautiful weather, out by the Rec Hall, eating and dancing the day away with friends with our awesome DJ Rodger 2.0. Until next year.

Tune into your Groove

Thursday March 28th

Location: Rec Hall

Time: 5pm-8pm

Nevada Smith is a well-known solo guitarist/entertainer in South Florida for over 35 years. Originally from Chicago fronting his own 4 and 5-piece groups and working famous restaurants and hotel lounges, Nevada said goodbye to the cold and hustle of a big northern city and relocated in Naples, Florida as a Solo Guitarist and began almost immediately working gigs all over Naples, Bonita Springs and Ft. Myers Beach.

He sings and plays live guitar along with Studio Quality tracks which contain bass, drums, and keyboards giving a fuller sound and sometimes the illusion of a whole band, essential for dancing.

There's "almost" something for everybody but, sorry, no rap or metal.

There is no cost for this event just come on out and be with friends and dance the night away. Sponsored by the Activities Dept.

Recipe of the Month

Irish Soda Bread

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour (16 ounces)
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 to 2 cups buttermilk, shaken
  • Good butter, such as Kerrygold, for serving

Directions

  1. Gather the ingredients
  2. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a sheet pan with parchment paper. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking soda until well combined. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in 1 1/2 cups buttermilk.
  3. Using your hands or a wooden spoon, mix the ingredients until a loose dough forms. You're looking for a dough that's soft but not overly sticky or wet, and that holds together enough to make a loaf that can hold its shape on the sheet pan. If the dough is dry and crumbly, add up to 1/2 cup additional buttermilk, a tablespoon or so at a time, until it comes together.
  4. When the dough is just mixed together — no streaks of flour or buttermilk — transfer it to the parchment-lined sheet pan. Using your hands, form the dough into a round that's roughly 8 inches in diameter. Using a paring knife, cut a large "X" across the top of the loaf.
  5. Bake until soda bread is nicely browned and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom of the loaf, about 45 minutes. Let cool on the baking sheet until just warm, then slice and eat with good butter. To store, wrap in a slightly damp tea towel to prevent the crust from getting too hard and keep on the counter.
