Mid-January already!  The holiday season just flies by in a flurry of festivity, parties, and family visits. 

We include an article on a very special attraction to our area, the Manatee Lagoon.  This facility is free and a wonder for young and old.  It is a place to learn about manatees and to see the gentle giants of Florida!  Laura was lucky enough to see over a hundred manatees on a cool day in early January.

Manatee Lagoon   
 
The Florida manatee is the largest of all the world's manatees. In fact, the most gigantic can weigh more than 3,500 pounds! Measuring up to 12 feet from snout to tail, most adult manatees tip the scales at more than 1,200 pounds.

Manatees like to stay warm. During the cool winter months, they gather around warm water sources to avoid cold temperatures. Florida Power & Light Company's Riviera Beach Next Generation Clean Energy Center creates a flow of warm water that is just right for manatees.

Manatee Lagoon - An FPL Eco-Discovery Center, is a new, FREE Palm Beach County educational attraction with a dedicated area for viewing manatees up close. The 16,000-square-foot center features engaging, hands-on exhibits for visitors to learn all about these endangered and unique creatures as well as the natural wonders of the surrounding Lake Worth Lagoon. On cold winter days, the facility's observation deck is the ideal spot to view manatee herds basking in the warm-water outflows from Florida Power & Light Company's adjacent Riviera Beach Next Generation Clean Energy Center
.

BallenIsles Sales - 2017 Summary  

Not a banner year but certainly bright!  Compare this year's 76 Multiple Listing Service sales with 80 in 2016 and 93 in 2015. Total sales with the inclusion of 6 sales not in the MLS brings the total to 82.  The trend is solid even with a decrease in sales this past year.  Inventory has risen up to 79 properties currently on the market but this still remains a very low number for a community of over 1580 residences.  Compare the 2016 average list/sold price of $765,413/$748,595 and average market time of 176 days to 2017 average list/sold price $749,009/$802,04 and average market time of 184 days.  The market is somewhat flat but holding steady.  Its a good time to reassess your needs and perhaps make a move.
